Corpus Christi: The markets

A Cusco Corpus Christi tradition is the fruit market. Typical items for sale: oranges, lemons, apples, pomegranates, chirimoya, bananas, coconut, and lots and lots of sugar cane.

You can't see any in this picture, but several stalls like this displayed a package of plastic straws perched among the coconuts for sale. Kids and adults alike were walking around town sipping coconut milk direct from the fruit.

Some more modern sweet treats have entered the um, corpus, as well.
